Black Friday nears: Consumers told to use caution before holidays

The El Paso Times advises for shoppers to be careful and plan out how they will spend their money in order to maintain a good credit store.

“A year’s worth of financial progress can be squandered during the holiday shopping season without planning and discipline,” said Greg McBride, senior financial analyst with Bankrate.com.

Develop a game plan and a budget for the holiday season, save for holiday expenditures instead of charging up your credit cards, and don’t be afraid to scale back this year if you’re facing an uncertain job situation or you’re behind on your bills, McBride said.
